Sessions in 08! (the Sequel)ByHugh McInnish In my last newsletter I told you of my intention to introduce to the Alabama GOP Committee at its 15 July meeting a resolution urging Senator Jeff Sessions to run for president. Although I sent the proposed resolution to state headquarters well before the deadline, at this writing its fate is uncertain. I don't know whether members of the committee will be allowed to debate its merits and vote on it, or not. Based on the second-hand information that I have, something like this is what I believe has happened: The Chairman of the Resolutions Committee used a telephone conference to hold a meeting among himself and four others, and they passed judgment on the resolutions which had been submitted. They liked only one, and that one was mailed to Executive Committee members. All the others were withheld, including the one proposed by me. I have been unable to obtain minutes of the meeting of the Resolutions Committee, and so at this writing I am unclear as to why my resolution was not sent out to the members. Nevertheless I hope to bring the resolution to the floor on the 15th and give the membership the opportunity, after appropriate discussion, to vote yea or nay. I hope that members of the Executive Committee will support me in this move.
